About Us
The Orphan’s Home Complex is a cent per cent non-sectarian, non-communal socio-economic non-government organization dispensing humanitarian services to especially helpless orphans,
distressed widow and similar other men and women since inception in 1982. It is located at an otherwise modest and solitary village named Betagi under Rangunia Police Station, about 35
miles away from the bustle of Metropolitan Chottogram. In pursuance of the policy to serve sufferings humanity, Rev. Jivanananda Mahathero has been dedicating his life to render services to sufferings humanity by all possible means.
Taking care of Orphans necessities arrangement for food and shelter besides providing educational and medical facilities. That has prompted Rev. Jivanananda to set up this orphanage in Betagi in 1982 styled as Orphan’s Home Complex. There was a time when average number of inmates in the orphanage was about 150. Besides general education, the complex has arrangement for imparting training in tailoring, typewriting, carpentry and lathe machine. So far 300 former inmates of the complex have been honorably rehabilitated in the society. More are in the pipeline. Financing an orphanage, arrange food and clothing for the inmates, pay for their general and technical education/training is an expensive task. An amount of TK. 60,000/- is needed every month to run the entire show. Number of inmates has now come down to one third because of paucity of fund.
